A duck sits on her eggs beside a canal. The last one to break its shell is big, grey and different from all the others. Rejected in the yard, he runs away and crosses moors, other people’s homes and a whole winter.
A childless queen follows an old woman's advice and forgets a warning. She gives birth to twins, and one of them is a serpent who demands a bride before his brother. Two princesses vanish after the wedding, and the third bride is a shepherd's daughter.
In Dovor, every tale comes in full, with four readings written for it.
